In 1991, Steps to Success began as a coalition called the Brookline School-Community Partnership. Its basic premise: to unite the combined efforts of community institutions, specifically those that tackle the complicated social issues responsible for the achievement gap affecting minority and low-income students nationwide.
STS still operates with this underlying premise. Our work rests on strong collaborative relationships with our key stakeholders – the Public Schools of Brookline and the Brookline Housing Authority.
The Public Schools of Brookline places educational equity among its core values. Embedded within the public school system, Steps to Success enjoys the benefit of full access to students and close collaboration with teachers, administrators and other school staff members. The Brookline Housing Authority, through its partnership with STS, seeks to go beyond bricks and mortar in supporting its residents in their efforts to build a promising future for themselves and their children. Visit the Brookline Housing Authority.
