Family Engagement
Family Engagement programming aims to build community amongst Steps families, bridge access gaps regarding material resources, digital literacy, and early childhood education, and create an avenue for increased parent and caregiver input into the direction of the organization.
We work with various community partners to assist with household needs such as groceries and seasonal clothing for youth, to provide material support to families experiencing housing and health crises, and to ensure that youth have the medications they need to participate safely in school and after-school programs. At the kindergarten through second-grade level, the program also supports early literacy and digital literacy by connecting families with devices and at-home internet services.
The Family Engagement program also hosts Family Dinners, an opportunity for parents, caregivers, and youth across the district to meet, mingle, and build networks of mutual support, as well as Resource Nights, which bring together families, community organizations, and STS and PSB staff to increase awareness about resources available in Brookline and Greater Boston.
